MWATI MWILA was born in Lusaka, Zambia, and relocated with her family to Australia, then New Zealand, and finally to America. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Washington and resides in Washington State to this day.
Mwati’s early literary interests began with Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes. She has always enjoyed traveling and says her passion for writing comes from her fascination with learning about different cultures. She also enjoys listening to music and continues to write and keep a journal as an expressive outlet.
Mwati’s writing (both prose and poetry) has been published in journals and anthologies over the years, and she is currently working on a novel. The Sweet Surrender of Love and Nature is her first poetry collection.
